1. Scan your photo-negative, slide or print.
- "RGB" mode for color, or a "grayscale" mode for black & white.
- Output size: biggest dimension {height or width} should be 10 inches in one direction (8MB file size).
- Resolution: 200 dpi. {If you are scanning a print that is 5x7 or smaller at 1:1 output, increase resolution to 300 dpi.}
2. Save file as JPEG. On a PC, be sure the file name has the proper extension. For example: Filename.jpg
3. Compress image: Photoshop level 8 or high quality.
4. Transmit to Feature Photo Wire:
Attach JPEG file to an Internet e-mail message. Send to:
editor@featurephoto.com and FPSphoto@aol.com
PLEASE CALL US IMMEDIATELY TO LET US KNOW YOU HAVE SENT THE PHOTO.
5. Caption Information
- Caption should be 80 words or less. It should identify all people in the photo, with their titles, ages and hometown,
as applicable. The caption should answer the questions: who, what, where and why. Please include a contact name and phone
number, for an editor to contact for more information.
- Captions should be included in the body of the email. Please be sure to indicate which distribution you are selecting.

per day 7 days a week. Generally photos sent after hours and on weekends are handled by appointment. We will provide you with
a contact number to reach us after hours and over weekends. Our after-hours editor checks our email regularly. Please email
us at editor@featurephoto.com and FPSphoto@aol.com to let us know when we can expect the photo. Please leave your name and
a number where you can be reached.
